I'm starting this site so I can show stuff I do within a community...I think it'd be helpful.

Some stuff about me?
I'm currently an interactive multimedia student at Columbia College in downtown Chicago. My focus will however be in the web and graphic design elements as I have a passion for that the most...as well as I have developed those skills the most. I felt the need to stretch myself though which is why I am in IM. As I am focusing on web design as well, I do need to learn these things I have learned thus far in IM.

So what kind of art do I do?
Graphics: I've done computer graphics since I was in junior high...I hope to one day invest in a tablet pc or just a pen tablet as that will be very useful even now. I have done graphic designs by hand as well.

Animation: I am learning flash which is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done because I do not see myself as a 3D/motion designer. I am starting to get the hang of it though but liking it is another issue. IM faculty seem to want to make you unafraid of coding as well as becoming good coders. I seem to not be able to stray away from that however much I would like to. I don't mind HTML/CSS and such since that is more WYSIWYG and it's instant, not really about one little tiny thing is messed up and the whole program is screwed like other programming languages.

Web: I also started this in junior high. I've learned various web applications as well as code.

Writing: I write songs from time to time on my guitar or sing a capella. I used to write poems when I was in grade school. I am beginning to like writing film scripts or interactive stories ever since I started taking a writing class for IM in my school. I find that I write better than I speak too so writing is a big part of me though it has not always been. I hated writing but then even now I don't like it too much unless it's informal.

Film/Video: I have shot some film as well as edited/produced short videos. This is a very fun thing to do for me. I'm learning that film director or writer (which goes with above) may be something I would like to do in the future.

Photography: Probably the only way I'm able to capture the beauty of the world with its many different angles, lighting, shapes, forms, and sizes...etc. I must take about an hour (jk) to take one shot and by that time that particular shot I want disappeared (has happened before though). Actually photography relates to film/video though so I would say that that is another way so maybe that's why I like film/video so much too. They both involve similar concepts in how you shoot something and why. My cell phone is my camera right now since they are too expensive for now and my phone is overflowed with pictures I took so now I can't receive any more files. New phone soon though. I gotta buy something to transfer my files from there to disk.

Music: I love music. I love listening to it, bopping my head to it, dancing to it, singing, playing it...I've played a variety of instruments throughout my life and guitar has been the only one I've actually cared for to stick with. I wished I stuck with piano and violin though. I can still play and read a little bit of music in those. My next pursuit is possibly drums and just learning to play guitar stylistically.

This pretty much covers it. I wanted to write about why I do what I do but it's sort of answered in here.
